Mercury
Mercury is the first planet from the sun and is only 1/3 the size of Earth. Mercury has no satellites (another word for moons).
Atmosphere: Mercury has nearly no atmosphere. What does exist of Mercury's atmosphere consists mainly of oxygen and sodium. Daytime temperatures on Mercury can reach a scorching 700 K (427 C) and at night can fall to 100 K (-173 C).
Surface: The surface of Mercury is very similar to the Moon's. The surface is covered with craters, and plains. The plains are very smooth, and crater free, due to lava flows from the cratered parts of Mercury. The surface gravity is greater than the moons. A system of cliffs, called scarps are found all over the surface of Mercury.
Interior: It's unknown what the interior of Mercury is actually like. With observations scientist theorize that the planet has an extensive nickel-iron core. It's magnetic field is only one percent of Earths magnetic field strength. With this information it suggests that Mercury has a molten zone in it's interior.
